In Stereo

In Stereo I just returned from seeing an LSC free sneak preview of I Heart Huckabees with a pretty enthusistic MIT crowd. LSC has these sneak previews fairly regularly. In my years at MIT, Ive seen sneaks of such films as 8 Mile and Grosse Pointe Blank, and missed sneaks of School of Rock and Harold and Kumar go to White Castle, among others. I was planning to use todays entry to talk a little bit about school visits, so I wont let a movie derail me from that. I was thinking about how no colleges ever visited my high school, not even the state/local colleges. I do remember that military recruiters would sometimes stop by. So when I visit the small number of high schools that I do each year, Ill often feel a little guilty. There are more than 15,000 high schools in the United States, and our office might visit 50 or so of them in a year. I know from talking to students and fellow admissions officers that this is a relatively very small number of schools, and that some colleges spend most of the fall (and sometimes a good chunk of the spring) visiting half a dozen high schools a day. Before you get upset because your high school is among the tens of thousands of schools we didnt visit, let me tell you what we are doing with our time in the fall. Our small admissions office (~12 admissions officers) does travel across the country, to about 75 cities, as Ive previously discussed. Our priority in these cities is the central meeting we conduct, where we invite the entire area. Its very egalitarian in that way. We really want to do our best for the students and parents who attend these meetings, to really make them worthwile. For example, a father and daughter drove from rural Idaho to see my meeting in Portland, OR. This was a very, very long drive each way. While we definitely dont encourage this, its certainly understandable with all the college anxiety, and also the lack of opportunities and counseling resources in some areas. So, whether the student has driven 8 hours or 8 minutes to the meeting, we want to have the energy and stamina to provide the best of infor mation to everyone. And yes, sometimes we do visit schools. Mostly, these are the schools that have 15 or more applicants to MIT (wow, thats a lot!) and/or those that are members of the National Consortium for Specialized Secondary Schools of Math, Science, and Technology, or NCSSSMST, of which MIT is an affiliate member. Its nice to visit high schools, but for every one that I visit, there are 100 others I wish I had the time to visit. Not being constantly out of the office also allows us to put serious time and energy into bringing you our snazzy new website, to answer your phone calls, respond to your emails, set up your overnight on-campus visits, etc. Not to mention writing this blog and going to movies.

He expresses the false values found in society that affects their perception of themselves, and cause them to lose direction in their lives. Through his poems â€Å"The Hollow Men† and â€Å"The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock† Eliot explores the modern underlying issues of both society and man as being lost, stagnant, and aimless. He advocates for change through de-romanticizing the human condition via the use of allusions. Through such allusions, Eliot comments on the alienation, indecision, and inadequacy that hinder the forward progress of the modern man, warning that continuing to live aimlessly will result in empty and meaningless lives. Eliot uses an epigraph quoting Dante Alighieri to help explain the psyche and inadequacy of Prufrock. In case CEO does not take any appropriate action with the support of Barrys query, he can quit the job because with the behaviour of credit taking by Raphael would not be ableto make him satisfied with the job and job satisfaction is vital for the organization for remaining with the company for a long time (Tyssen, Wald and Spieth, 2013). Lack of job satisfaction will bring the situation of crisis and the loyalty of Barry towards the organization may be disappeared. Contingency leadership theory After 6 months, he promoted in his company as a manager. He took right decision to not leaving job. There are several contingency leadership theories. Contingency theory of leadership defines the ability of the leaders to adapt the various leadership styles at different situation (Healy, 2016). The leaders who adapt contingency theory know that one leadership theory which worked in the past, it is necessary that it will work in potential issues. There are three kind of contingency theories which can be implemented by Barry in leading team. These theories are Fiedlers Contingency Model, Houses Path-Goal Theory and Hersey and Blanchards Situational Model. The most suitable contingency theory for Barry can be Fiedlers Contingency Model because it approaches to situational leadership (Cornelissen and Cornelissen, 2017). Fiedler's contingency leadership theory is a typeof contingency theory. It directly defines that the efficiency of leadership relies upon the situation and there are several factors like the nature of the task, personality of the leader and makeup of the tam being led (Fiedler, 2011). The contingency theory of fielder is one of the effective theories of contingency that defines that effective leadership does not depends only the style of leadership but also leading on the control over the situation. Barry with Fiedler's contingency leadership theory will be able to handle the team with an appropriate manner. It is the model which created the least preferred co-worker scale, where Barry can ask what personality can be assigned to the co-worker. There are two different leadership style is existed that is task oriented and relationship oriented, both can be effective in different situations. It has been identified fielders that there are there are three different types of variable that can influence the situation of the organization (Dinh, Lord, Gardner, Meuser, Liden and Hu, 2014). They include the relationship between the leaders and followers, structure of task and position power. Barry can use various styles of leadership while performing in the organization or leading a team. It is required for the Barry to being an inspiration for others because whatever had done with Barry, he can improve that condition and situation through his position of present. Barry could use this theory to bring effectiveness in the workplace. By applying this theory, Barry can be effective in different situation with different people. Barry can focus on particular situation and give solution as per requirement of solution of specific situation. The theory of Fielder defines two types of situations such as low LPC and high LPC. Low LPC refers to the situation when the nature of leaders is towards task motivated and high LPC refers to a situation when the nature of leader towards making relationship with employees on prior basis. Barry should give preference to build good relationship with followers and make them free to share their views and ideas related to bring the changes in the organization. He can manage the team by providing the sufficient knowledge about the work. Due to his variability of leadership style, he will be helpful to make the better relationship with the employees. Good relationship with employer is able for job satisfaction and employ ees of the organization want to be connected with the organization if they are satisfied from their job (Fairclough, 2013). The benefit of Fielders contingency theory is extremely well researched and defines the task oriented and relationship oriented nature of leaders (Shao, Feng and Hu, 2016).The good relations with leaders are compatible with the poor structured task environment. On the other hand the leaders who are impersonal, they are hired for the well structured environment. Barry has faced various issues regarding management and political activity. He can rectify the issue which is born by Raphael which will be beneficiary for the employees and the environment of the company will be healthy if fair treatment would develop with every employee.
